One alum, two presentations and three entrepreneurs equal an inside look at the business of information in the 21st century during Homecoming Week. Both lectures are open and the public is invited.

Jeff Silver

Jeff Silver

Jeff Silver and Marianne Silver are co-founders of Coyote Logistics, a third-party transportation company recognized as Chicago’s No. 1 Top Workplace by the Chicago Tribune in 2011 and 2012. Forbes lists it as one of America’s most promising companies.

Jeff Silver, chief executive officer, was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the Midwest in 2011, a 2013 and 2014 Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive, and a 2013 Mid-Market CEO for Overall Excellence by Chief Executive. Silver serves on the board for the Northwestern University Transportation Center and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a master of engineering from MIT.

Marianne Silver

Marianne Silver

Marianne Silver, chief human resource officer, was named one of “11 Women Who Started Amazing Companies” by Forbes. From 1992-2001, she was vice president of American Backhaulers, before starting Coyote Logistics with her husband Jeff Silver. She serves on the board of the Allendale Shelter Club and is a member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Professional Advisory Council.

Larry Mondry has been the chief executive officer of Apollo Brands, a manufacturer/distributor of consumer electronics products, since February. Mondry was the chief executive officer of Flexi Compras Corporation, a rent-to-own retailer, from May 2012 to this past February. He was the president and chief executive officer of CSK Auto Corporation, a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, from August 2007 to July 2008.

Prior to his appointment at CSK, Mondry served as the chief executive officer of CompUSA Inc. from November 2003 to May 2006. He joined CompUSA in 1990. Mondry is the chairman of the board’s Compensation Committee and Governance Committee at Micron, where he has served on the Board of Directors since 2005. Originally from southeast Michigan, Mondry holds a BA from Boston University.

Preceding the lecture, Mondry will be presented with the School of Information’s first Honorary Alumni Award. Alumnae Michelle Light and Emily Puckett Rodgers will also be honored at this event.
