Tuesday, December 1 is Giving Blueday, a 24-hour day of giving on Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving following Thanksgiving weekend.
Here at UMSI, we’re especially grateful for the generosity of our donors. Barbara Palmer (AMLS ’68) is matching contributions to the UMSI Horizon Fund, up to $7,175. This fund supports the extra-curricular educational experiences of our students, such as internships, travel and conferences.
Emeriti UMSI professors Judy and Gary Olson were inspired by Giving Blueday to create the Judy and Gary Olson Doctoral Scholarship Fund. To join them in supporting UMSI’s doctoral students, please make a gift.
UMSI’s former dean, Jeff MacKie-Mason, and his wife Janet Netz created the Jeff MacKie-Mason and Janet Netz Scholarship fund this summer to support students in our new undergraduate BSI program. Giving directly to this fund provides support to our undergraduate students.
The Michigan Matching Initiative has been extended through June, 2016. This initiative matches one dollar for every four dollars donated for gifts ranging from $50,000 – $1 million. Eligible gifts must support new or existing endowments that provide direct support to undergraduates, graduates or professional students. The new Olson Doctoral Scholarship is a qualifying fund. Groups of up to four donors may pool their gifts in order to qualify for the 1:4 match.
