Two major players in the social media industry have generously offered their company at lunch as the top prizes in the Crowdrise fundraiser for Alternative Spring Break, now in progress. Individuals who donate $500 or more between February 13 and 24 will be automatically entered in a drawing for lunch with Twitter’s Claire Diaz Ortiz. Those who donate $500 or more between February 27 and March 9 will be eligible to win lunch with Facebook and Google researcher Paul Adams. Travel and accommodation costs are at the winner’s expense.
Claire Diaz Ortiz is the social innovation lead at Twitter and moonlights as an author, speaker and globe trotter. She manages Twitter’s philanthropic, social good, and cause marketing initiatives, including the Twitter for Nonprofits program. She is the author of Twitter for Good: Change the World, One Tweet at a Time, about business, marketing, and being a force for good, at Twitter and beyond.
She is the co-founder of Hope Runs, a nonprofit which operates orphanages in Kenya. She has lived on four continents and traveled to more than 50 countries. She holds an MBA from Oxford University and a BA and MA in anthropology from Stanford University.
Paul Adams is widely recognized as one of the leading thinkers on the social web. Fortune magazine has referred to him as “one of Silicon Valley’s most wanted.”He has been a senior researcher in user experience at Google, where his work formed the foundation for Circles on Google +. He also worked on Gmail, Mobile, and YouTube. He is now a global brand experience manager at Facebook. He is the author of Grouped: How Small Groups of Friends are the Key to Influence on the Social Web and writes the blog ThinkOutsideIn.com.
He hails from Sligo in northwest Ireland and has lived in Dublin and London; he currently lives in San Francisco.
